Christmas Angel Hop

UPDATE:

Congrats to our winner (chosen by Random.org):

Melinda D!

And thanks to all who participated! You rock! Check back to another ongoing contest, and sign up for my email list so you never miss another chance to win!

What is your favorite Christmas memory? Was there a special Christmas moment that seemed heaven-sent...or touched by an angel?

One of my most enduring memories is more a 'lesson learned.' All I wanted that pre-teen year was an Andy Gibb album (hmmm, I may have just aged myself there) and one afternoon after school I couldn't resist the temptation of the wrapped album under the tree. So I peeked. And it was all about Andy! I bounced around the house in bliss until I heard my mom return home. I carefully rewrapped the package and thought I was in the clear...until Christmas morning when I had to pretend to be as excited as I was the first time I opened the gift. I felt awful having to fake it and my mom lost out on my true surprise and happiness, and from that day forward, I've never been even tempted to peek again!

And for the record (hah!) that music still gives me the chills! :)

Tell us your memory in the comment section (WITH your email!) and be entered to win a $20 gift card from Amazon.

One winner will be randomly selected on 12/17. And don't forget to hop to the next blog!

  1. Oh I'm with you on the Andy Gibb, just loved him! But my favorite memory was in the early 70's and I had been wishing for a white pair of gogo boots! I woke up Christmas morning and there they were! You could never have seen a happier teenager if you tried LOL!

  3. I can remember trying to find our preseants before Christmas. On year I wanted a type writer and when my parents got back from shopping we peeked out the window and laying in the trunk of the car was the typewriter I wanted. You know Christmas wasn't the same that year. The excitment was gone. I didn't do that again.

  4. I think my favorite gift was a Keurig coffee pot. I love it. I'd love to win a giftcard to get a few books to read over the long white winter we're starting off with.

  5. I remember one year we were away camping I'm from Australia so it's nice and warm this time of year, anyway our parents had told us that Santa couldn't bring all our presents to the tent but gad probably left some at home, we were so excited, got home and found that yes there had been bikes but they had been pinched. Certainly put a dent in belief in Santa

  8. I wanted an Easy Bake Oven so bad and on Christmas morning when I opened my gift and saw that Santa had brought me one, I didn't think I could ever be happier. My grandma spent all morning cooking things with me on that little oven. She has been gone 28 years now and that is one of my favorite memories, the time that I spent with her and all the laughs that we had over the tiny desserts that we cooked. Next year my granddaughter will be old enough to get one and I hope that we can make the same kind of memory together.

  9. Mine would be making Haluski, Perogies, and Stuffed Cabbage with my Grandma on Christmas Eve. She passed away a few years ago on November 28th (her daughter's--my mom--birthday), and I miss her and our holiday tradition.

  10. My favorite Christmas memory was helping my mom make Christmas candy and cookies. She made wedding cakes, birthday cakes, pies cookies and candy for a living and I especially loved helping her at Christmas because it was a wonderful time for us just being together and making all those sweets. There is little better than getting to lick the bowls, pots, spoons and beaters! newcanuck52@yahoo.com

  11. My favorite memory is when my grandma taught me how to make rocky road fudge. She always made it and would make me my own bag because she knew I loved them so much. We had a lot of fun that Christmas eve and every year I still make those rocky road treats. I really miss her! :)

  13. Being from a large family, money was always tight. I didn't expect too much. Anyway around the early 60's, when Barbies first came out, My sister and I each got a barbie. One with blonde hair and one with black hair. I ended up with the black hair one and we each got a barbie bed with it.We were in barbie heaven until the next day, when the neighbor came over with her little boy and he sat on them and broke both of them.

  19. One of my most memorable moments was when I was a little girl. My parents and sister went to the Christmas tree lot to pick out a tree, and it was snowing so hard. The smells of Christmas were surrounding us. The little elderly man managing the lot offered us some hot chocolate, and I think I can still taste it to this day. It didn't come from an instant mix, it was homemade. I believe we went to the lot the week before Christmas and all the prettiest trees had been purchased except for those that were out of our price range. I remember spotting a poor little lonely tree all off to itself in the back of the lot. If you have seen the Charlie Brown Christmas tree then you have seen this little tree. We purchased the tree and took it home and nourished it and gave it TLC. My sister and I were just talking about that time at the lot, and we both agreed it turned out to be the prettiest Christmas tree ever. That memory is stored in the memory box of my heart forever. My parents are gone now, and that was back in the 60's. Good memories at the Christmas Tree lot.

  21. I have a TON of Christmas memories. My mom and dad were poor with four kids so they made sure to try to find bargains or sales and they even made gifts. My dad made me a three story dollhouse one year that I ADORED and would still have if my little brother hadn't dropped his set of weights on it:(

  22. I also peeked once and saw the stuffed turtle I wanted so badly. I was quite young then. When I opened the present on Christmas morning the turtle wasn't there! I finally found it hidden in a child's luggage bag my Mom bought me. She was on to me and had her own laugh! It was awesome.

  23. I received a train set one year. Pretty awesome for a girl. Got to love forward thinking parents.

I have never peeked. My children don't either & they know where I keep the presents. It's NOT the same if you look beforehand.
